splish splash, kitties in the bath (followup to adventures in kittyland)

to follow up the last story, where we discovered our little gizmo is a water lover... after thinking about it all day, i got home from work that night and was curious to see if that was a one time thing, or maybe we have a genuine little aqua cat on our hands. well, the fact that as soon as i opened the door to my room she ran straight into the bathroom and jumped in the tub was a good indication. i took her out of there because i didn't want the sudden running water to frighten her and blow the whole thing... so i took her out and started the water and she immediately jumped right back in, even with the water running! the other cat, godzilla, just sat on the ledge the whole time and wouldn't go near the water, but kept a watchful eye over his sis.

we actually got some pics this time...

adventures in kittyland

so i have these two little baby kittens and they are gettin bigger everyday. developing their own little distinct personalities...

today after i got out of the shower i was in my room and all of a sudden i heard a big splash in the bathroom. i ran in there, and found gizmo in the tub. there was about 4 inches of water in there, and she was just walkin around, splish splashin, happy as can be!! she loves water!!! who would've thought?!

the other little guy, godzilla, just sat on the ledge watching her not knowing what to think of the whole thing. he kept leaning down, and at one point lost his balance and fell in. he totally freaked and hopped right out... it didn't even phase gizmo. she stayed in there for about 15 minutes before she hopped out. and then she was all wet and looked like a drippy rat! what a little weirdo.

i wanna live in a giant seashell

This house belongs to a Mexico City couple and was created by architects at Senosiain Arquitectos. It's more of a sculpture than a dwelling. Taking cues from a Nautilus shell, the house is put together using ferrocement construction, a technique involving a frame of steel-reinforced chicken wire with a special two-inch-thick composite of concrete spread over it, resulting in a structure that's earthquake-proof and maintenance-free. The open concept inside the house is dominated by smooth surfaces, spiral stairs and natural plantings that makes the inhabitants feel like they're living inside a snail who swallowed the entire contents of somebody's back yard. While the house is surrounded on three sides by the bustling Mexico City, its West side (where most of its portal-style windows are located) has a breathtaking view of the mountains.

this gives me hope

In the video above, a group of Australian women over the age of 80 perform the 1977 song "God Save the Queen" by The Sex Pistols, which was originally titled "No Future" and banned by the BBC. It's part of artist Christoph Büchel's exhibit "no future" at the Sydney Biennale 2008. The ladies were given an open gallery space and told to rehearse the song whenever they wanted.

thoughts

live each day as if it were your last.
this is important.

also important:
treat others as if it's the last time you're ever gonna see them.

you never know...

life continues to blow my mind.

(i guess, we gotta just love eachother the best we can, all the time.
as if it were our last moment on earth. as if it were their last moment on earth.
for anyone and everyone. all the time.)

abandoned places. enchanted places.

so i gotta thing for abandoned places. ruins. especially modern ruins. somehow i came upon this pretty incredible site which seems to be some sort of image archive. there's hundreds of pictures of different places. i don't know anything else about it because the whole thing is in chinese. or japanese. i'm not sure, i can't read it. either way, i just want to curl up into the screen...

i feel like i've posted an obscene amount of pictures. but i don't care.

you can check it out if you're interested.
